First year that our group (Yuma Auxiliary Communications Service) participated in the AZQP.  We spent the summer moving into a new (to us) building we are using as the communications center for the Yuma County EOC.  Equipment was not yet installed, so we set up for a temporary contest operation using some of our equipment and some personal equipment.  Gave us a chance to "train" on our HF equipment and test the operating environment.  A successful and fun two days for the group.

Biggest issue was the loooong exchange.  It got tiresome after a while having to give out such a long exchange, and we had numerous questions as to why it was so long.  The exchange should be shortened - I get concerned each time I try to give out the exchange to a mobile station.  Many casual contacts (not in the contest) were reluctant to take the exchange.  Also, since it is the AZ QSO Party, why include state in the exchange?  Most QSO parties only use county.  We'd like to see a shorter exchange - RS(T) and County would be great - 59 YMA...

If the exchange is not changed, how about adding 1949 - Year of the "Longest Flight" - 47 day record setting endurance flight that took place in Yuma.
