FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: - Why isn't there a Multi-Multi category?
- I would like to work on a 3 county (or 4 county) line. Can I get QSO credit for each county?
- I'll be operating Portable. Why do I have to enter as a Mobile?
- Why do the Suggested Frequencies all end in 12 or 48?
- I already operate in the 7th Call Area QSO Party. Why do we want to have an Arizona QSO Party?
- Why isn't there a Multi-Multi category?
Being the first year of the Arizona QSO Party, the organizers felt that having too many plaques to fund would be risky on the limited budget, so we limited entry categories as a means of reducing that risk. Multi-Multi efforts, as long as you designate a "club" name, can and should run Multi-Single with each transmitter using a different callsign. The aggregated "club" score will qualify for the Top Club award.
- I would like to work on a 3 county (or 4 county) line. Can I get QSO credit for each county?
Multipliers for 3 and 4 county operations will count, but QSO points may be taken for two counties max.
- I'll be operating Portable. Why do I have to enter as a Mobile?
Being the first year of the Arizona QSO Party, the organizers felt that having too many plaques to fund would be risky on the limited budget, so we limited entry categories as a means of reducing that risk. Sponsors have stepped up, we appreciate that very much, and if the desire and enthusiasm for a 2010 AZQP holds, we will make every effort possible to separate the Portable operators into their own entry category.
From an operating standpoint, the organizers felt that the opportunity to work the same stations in multiple counties would offset the portable ops who will need more stations for an equivalent score. - Why do the Suggested Frequencies all end in 12 or 48?
Arizona became the 48th state of the United States of America on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1912.
- I already operate in the 7th Call Area QSO Party. Why do we want to have an Arizona QSO Party?
The short answer is to have MORE FUN! The Arizona QSO Party is an opportunity to polish operating skills and station capability, and to mentor new hams and contesters, just prior to the autumn contest season (CQWW and Nov SS are the big fall events), at a time of year where Arizona weather is generally cooperative. The Arizona QSO Party organizers believe that the AZQP is complementary to the 7QP (held in May each year), it is most certainly NOT designed to compete with the 7QP, and we will be operating in BOTH contests!
